Tumeke Room 25!
Nga Mihi Nui ki a koutou katoa (A big hello to you all). Ko Matua Uane toku ingoa (My name is Uane)
He kaiako no Room 25 (I am the teacher of Room 25)
Ahakoa he iti he pounamu (Even though it is small it is precious). This whakatauki encapsulates my belief in our tamariki - they are precious and it is my job to help them all achieve their full potential.
No Ma'uke kei roto i te Kuki Airani toku mama. (My mum is from Ma'uke in the Cook Islands) No Manchester kei roto i te Ingarangi toku papa. (My father is from Manchester, England.
Welcome to Term 1, 2012. In the short time I have met your tamariki I am really sure we will have a great year.
They are fun and keen to learn so lets encourage them every day to reach for the stars as I truly believe they are our future and can climb the highest mountains!
So ask them every day what they are doing - show an interest as it really matters, even if they just grunt. Please please make sure they have breakfast in the morning as without this important start they struggle with their learning. Make sure there is kai in their bags. It doesn't have to be flash - but a sandwich and fruit go a long way.
Feel free to come and talk to me if you have any concerns. Or drop me an email on uaned@lincolnheights.school.nz
Homework expectations are about half an hour a night. Reading every day for about 15 minutes and learning times tables and basic facts for the other 15 minutes. Sometimes a quote to discuss or a mini project. I will keep you updated as the term progresses.
Please please if you have the time can you help coach or transport our sports teams. This term we are trying to organise two T-ball teams and we compete against other schools on Tuesday 28 February.
I will keep you all updated as the term progresses.
Naku na Matua Uane.
