KIA ORA FROM ROOM 19
TERM ONE 2012
Welcome to Room 19 2012 class. We are all looking forward to an exciting year with Mrs Irwin. This term for topic we are working through 'Violence Free Begins With Me' programme. We will gain an increasing understanding of the causes, effects and alternatives to violence. We will learn communication, self esteem, emotions, safety planning, and anger management as well as relationship skills for example: how to respond to bullying.
On a Thursdays we will be going to Te Atatu Intermediate for tech where will be developing skills in Food Technology, Hard Materials, Soft Materials and Science..........We are all really excited especially the Year 7's as this is their first time there.
Also on Thursday afternoons we have Arts, which this term we will be with Mrs Irwin who is taking us for music. We will be learning about the Journey of the Ukulele and learning how to play.
On a Tuesday Mr Martin will be coming in the middle block to teach us French.
A NOTE FROM MRS IRWIN:
On a Monday afternoon your child will be coming home with a homework sheet which will have Reading, Maths, Logic and Thinking questions, Question of the Week, and work on their topic. The reading log needs to be filled in everyday and the students will also have their spelling notebooks which they need to be tested on atleast three times during the week. Spelling is due back on a Friday and the homework sheet is due back on the following Monday.
